The plans recently published by Uber to start selling its services also in Portugal has raised strong protest by the organization of taxi drivers, Federação Portuguesa do Táxi (FPT). Their president, Carlos Ramos, has announced a week of fights against this platform, whose business model is threatening the traditional taxi business. Part of this campaign will be protest marshes by thousands of taxis through the cities of Lisbon, Porto and Faro.

Today on our way to Faro we could observe a large queue of taxi cars moving slowly from the Estádio do Algarve to the Câmara Municipal of Faro, where they expected to be received by the administration. According to the FTP around 500 cars were expected to participate in this demonstration. The slogan we could see on many cars was "Uber ilegal - Roubo nacional".
