Santo António Golf (Parque da Floresta)
18holes golf course of the Santo António Villas, Golf & Spa Resort near Vila do Bispo
Location and access
The Santo António Villas, Golf & Spa Resort nestles in the hilly landscape of the far west Algarve bordering the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve. It is a 14 km drive on the national road EN125 from Lagos in the direction of Vila do Bispo to the entrance of the resort near Budens, and another six km from the end of the A22 motorway.
This spectacular golf course, previously known as Parque da Floresta, which opened in 1987, was designed by Pepe Gancedo, one of Spain’s most renowned architects. With no two holes remotely alike it attracts golfers to return time after time. From the stunning doglegged 1st, to the majestic elevated green on the 18th, set in a natural amphitheatre below the clubhouse terrace, it is one of those rare courses stretching your golfing skills to the limit.
The most westerly of the Algarve courses, Santo António has been carved out of the hills, creating a real roller coaster of a course that takes you across chasms, lakes and creeks. Meandering through the undulating terrain this tricky golf course offers real variety, with no two holes alike. You can enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding Algarve countryside and the Atlantic Ocean beyond.
Services & facilities
The elevated club house offers everything a golfer may need before and after an enjoyable round. It affords great views over part of the course and the surrounding landscape.
A small practice area is available to warm up, and the golf academy provides lessons for beginners and advanced players.
This demanding course provides surprising and challenging situations even for advanced golfers. We recommend using a buggy as the terrain can be steep in places.
