Dom Pedro Millennium Course
18holes golf course in Vilamoura
Location and access
The golf courses Dom Pedro Laguna, Millennium and Victoria are situated in the lowlands of the stream Ribeira de Quarteira between Vilamoura and Albufeira. It is only a six kilometres drive from the entrance to the resort on the EN125 between Almancil and Boliqueime and less than 12 kms from the A22 motorway (exit 12).
The Millennium course, alongside the Laguna course, was designed by the well-established UK golf architects Hawtree & Sons and opened in May, 2000. It is composed of two completely different layouts. Holes 3 to 7 wind between pine trees and are similar to the fairways of the Old Course and Pinhal. In this more wooded area, the fairways are narrower and require greater accuracy.
Like the neighbouring Laguna course, the rest of the course has a clear and open landscape enriched by several lakes. In addition to acting as hazards and emergency water reservoirs, these lakes serve a useful purpose in attracting a variety of aquatic birds, as well as amphibians, otters, terrapins etc. Apart from the lakes and an impressive total of 79 bunkers, another hazard is the wind that frequently blows over this somewhat exposed location, all of which demand accuracy of play.
The two nines of the Millennium Course complement each other handsomely and have robust characteristics.
