Quarteira: Lagoon of Almargem
The lagoon is seperated from the Atlantic Ocean only by a belt of sand - the beaches of Amargem and Lagoa. On the right side you can see the popular beach bar and restaurant BJ's Oceanside.
Quarteira’s beach (Praia de Quarteira) stretches several miles along the promenade, from where there is easy access. The infrastructures and water quality meet the Blue Flag’s high standards.
Vilamoura: Praia da Rocha Baixinha

Albufeira: Aerial view
Albufeira, the best known tourist hot spot of the region, marks the beginning of the Western Algarve, that stretches from here until Lagos. The coast is dominated by impressive rock formations, picturesque limestone caves and grottoes, interrupted by many sandy bays and several estuaries.
The marina was built in the west of the city at great technical effort. To create access from the sea, one of the natural rocky barriers had to be blown up. The marina is easily reached by car via the Av. dos Descobrimentos.
Ria de Armação: Salgados
The bay "Ria de Armação" is situated between Galé and the tourist centre Armação de Pêra. The salt marshes provide a refuge for many bird species, and the flat sandy beach, protected by dunes, stretches over several miles. In the background you can see the Salgados golf couse with its unique design.

Lagoa: Aerial view
From the plane you can see that the town of Lagoa is located in the hinterlands, embedded in the fertile landscape of the so called "barrocal".
The arduous path uphill is well worth the effort. There is a great view from the square in front of the church towards the river Arade. In the background you can see the hills of the Serra de Monchique.
